Title: Xfire Petition!
Post by: The Punisher on 11 June 2015, 01:49:02 AM
As you all know the Xfire client is going away so a petition was made.
https://www.change.org/p/xfire-to-bring-back-the-xfire-client-and-the-classic-website (https://www.change.org/p/xfire-to-bring-back-the-xfire-client-and-the-classic-website)
If you can sign and give it to as many people as you can it would being greatly appreciated!

I doubt this'll actually work. The goal is 100 supporters, but I don't really think 100 signers is that convincing for the owners. Let alone the current 35 signers.
Maybe it is just destined to die, just like ye ol' Battlefield 1942

EDIT: Signed anyway

Puni didn't choose a target of 100 signatures, I think it is just pointing out the next milestone.

Here is what I wrote on the bf league forum about the petition.

Quote
We know that the xfire client is scheduled to be shutdown on Friday and that this petition won't change that.

So, what can this petition change? Well, we believe that if in a few months time from now the xfire tournament platform is not proving popular the company could be persuaded by a petition to bring back the xfire client.

In the end it is the classic XFIRE that made them famous anyway, us, the users of the at that time popular tool. I mean, many companies tried to use the same concept (overwolf I'm looking at you).

But I don't think XFIRE would attract that much attention in its current state. Services like Steam are just a little more appealing to the mainstream. Maybe an overhaul and a giant kickstart* in the rear could save xfire, who knows?
(*: not an actual kickstarter project and begging for money, but the method of starting an internal combustion engine by kicking a lever)

No mention of their tournament platform, looks like it was a failure. Can't say I'm suprised.

I saw that, on their facebook they said they aren't bringing back the client we all knew and love, they are wanting to try the esports thing again
