As of 31st May the in-game server browser for Battlefield 1942 which uses GameSpy will no longer work. Players will have to join servers other ways such as via Xfire or GameTracker Lite.

This will obviously cause a drop in the number of players playing Battlefield 1942, the only thing we can really do is to prepare players for what is coming.

GameSpy's closure will affect many other games including other Battlefield titles such as Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142.

EDIT: It seems that the in-game server browser will continue to work until 30th June


EDIT: 14th July: It is still working, I'm not sure what is going on


EDIT: 25th July: It has stopped working

Another option for joining Battlefield 1942 servers is by using the LiveViewer function in the PFC Toolbox

The people at PFC were kind enough to add our server to the LiveViewer function

I assume it means the in-game server list wont show any servers. I don't see how they can stop anyone from hosting a Battlefield 1942 server.

I'm not definitely sure but I think it will affect them the same way it will affect Battlefield 1942
