I don't see how you could find someone's ip from xfire. Even if they did somehow get your ip and put it into an ip locator all it would do is give a rough location, it doesn't tell you someone's address.

The adresses are usually about a 30 min drive away from where you are, only law enforcement could actually locate you exaclty via contact with ISP databases.

Plus the worst they could do is DoS or DDoS, either of which are pussy moves, done usually by wanna be hackers. All DoS & DDoS does is lag you out anyway. These kinds of attacks would only last a few mins to boot you offline for a min or two.
But it hardly happens, we had a noob coming to the server the other day who posted an IP which he "got from my xfire chat" (in his words) and it couldnt have been more wrong, for a start it was compleatly the wrong country.

The security risk from an IP is really low, they cant steal bank details etc from it, so you have really nothing to worry about, the only people who do really have certain access to your IPs are admins on the server, and considering we wont be launching these kinds of attacks on anyone, or giving out IPs to people, you are safe :)

yea, when people tried to find my location it said i live maybe 10miles away from where i really live lol

mine is arthur0109

they found my exact location ... address and everything.. so ya..

well if u live I countryside and nothing else within 10 miles yes then they can find u but when u livw in a city it is probally impossible to find ur exact locattion

I honestly don't believe that someone on xfire managed to find your exact address from your IP.

Someone tried to locate me with my ip, and he was wrong for about 500kms ... So i don't really worry about that  C:-)
